Teaching

Having graduated from NYU with a second degree in Ed Theater, Gretchen spent the 2020-21 pandemic school year teaching drama and directing shows for Pomona High School in CO. During that year she taught online, in person, and in a hybrid setting with some kids at school and some at home. It was one of the most challenging and rewarding things she has ever had the pleasure of doing. She has also served as a teaching assistant for Atlantic’s Summer Youth Classes alongside Andy Schneeflock. Though Gretchen is now focusing on her acting career, she would like someday return to teach in a conservatory program as a way of paying forward the aid her own teachers lent her.

Yoga

Gretchen loves yoga and despite her busy schedule, she carves out time to practice almost every day. If you have time she encourages you to hop on the mat and see what it serves up. If not, she invites you to simply take a deep, full, and loving breath in and out. Namaste.

Being Aunt Rose

If you get to know Gretchen you will undoubtedly be told about her amazing nice and nephews. She loves them so very much! She currently has one niece and two nephews but is about to add a second niece and a third nephew to the list come Spring. Gretchen’s full name is Gretchen Rose Vosburgh and she is known to her little’s as Aunt Rose. Of all the roles she has booked, getting to be their aunt is undoubtedly her favorite.

Travel

In high school, Gretchen was fortunate enough to study abroad in China for a time. She stayed primarily in Suzhou but also ventured to Beijing and Shanghai. In college, she had the opportunity to study abroad again, this time in London. Her other travels include Paris, Venice, Burano, Edinburgh, Frankfurt, Belgium, the Netherlands, Iceland and Dublin. Gretchen believes the best way to foster understanding across cultures is to go and experience them. Try out the language, the foods and the customs. It teaches one about the heart of the people and breaks cultural stigmas. Gretchen realizes the privilege she has had to be able to travel as much as she has. She hopes her career moving forward will continue to allow for more travel. As of right now, a trip to Tokyo is at the top of her list.

A Vegan Foodie

Gretchen has been plant-based for six years now and is feeling stronger and more energized than ever. Through education, she came to understand the effects of animal agriculture on animals, the environment and her own body. So, she swapped cow’s milk for almond milk and became educated on plant-based proteins of which there are many. If you are interested in learning more about why Gretchen chose to go vegan, she recommends watching Forks Over Knives and Game Changers.

Adventures

Gretchen really does LOVE the mountains and whenever she is lucky enough to find herself back home in Colorado, she always takes full advantage. She enjoys snowshoeing, skiing, walking the family dogs and hiking. Her last excursion while home was a 3 day 36-mile-long backpacking trip through Lost Creek Wilderness with her father (see picture below). One day she would love to complete the Appalachian Trail or PCT.

Books

If you can’t travel, read. Gretchen loves to read and this year alone has already made her way through 20 books and counting. If you are looking for a book to pick up she recommends: Legendborn by Tracy Deonn, A Most Beautiful Thing by Arshay Cooper, The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood, Sweet Bean Paste by Durian Sukegawa and The House In The Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune. Remember, it doesn’t matter what you read so long as you enjoy it!

Languages

Gretchen spent her first five years of schooling in a French immersion program. Learning French at such a young age helped her to truly absorb it. She also realized the power learning another language has to connect oneself to the cultures that speak it. She continued French class through 12th grade but decided she wanted to start learning other languages. She added on ASL. She found sign language to be a vibrant and energetic form of communication. She also was able to take a year of Spanish. Though she still has much to learn about ASL and Spanish. Gretchen has fewer and fewer opportunities to practice her French, but likes to brush up by listening to French audiobooks. Harry Potter et le Prince de Sang-Mêlé is one of her favorites!
